DIY Spirit Communication
Although I can communicate with Spirit on your behalf, I also encourage you to get to know your spiritual team on your own.
I realize that sometimes it’s hard to get started communicating with Spirit. In today’s blog, I will give you an overview of entities that may comprise your spiritual team and steps you can take to begin communicating with your team.
Three Spirit Groups
As we explain in our class, “Contact Your Spirit Guides”, and as I outlined in this previous blog, there are basically three spirit groups that comprise your spiritual team and with whom you might want to connect in the spirit realm:
- dead loved ones (e.g., people, animals)
- spirit guides (e.g., ancestral people, animals, fairies)
- angels (e.g., arch-, guardian)
Spirit Guides
When we refer to “guides” or “spirit guides”, we are generally referring to human entities that have had a previous incarnation (a body). In metaphysics, there are a lot of other entities with whom you might want to interact in addition to the three groups outlined above. These other entities might include animal spirits, devas, elementals, fairies, sprites, aliens, etc. Although these entities may or may not have had an incarnation with a body, we include these entities into the generic category of “guide” as well.
Angels
We have also generically used the term “angel” to refer to all heavenly and celestial beings. We don’t generally differentiate between the nine choirs of angels (from seraphim to angels) of the angelic realm. In our work, we tend to only focus on two types of heavenly messengers—archangels and angels. However, as with anything else, if you have a specific interest, you can always pursue communication with any heavenly messenger in the angelic realm.
Who Do You Want to Talk to?
Now that you have a general idea of the types of spirits with whom you can communicate, I recommend you spend some time thinking about who you WANT to communicate with in spirit.
- Is there a deceased loved one you miss or from whom you’re comfortable receiving advice?
- Do you feel drawn to a specific angel?
- Would you like to receive direction from a spirit guide who has been with you from birth?
Once you have narrowed your focus to one entity, get comfortable with the entity with whom you resonate. You can ask just about any entity you desire to be part of your spiritual team. I’m fond of the power of Archangel Michael, so I call upon him frequently. I have also invited several dead family members and friends to be a part of my day-to-day spiritual team. You might be drawn to a religious figure like Jesus or Mary Magdalene or entities tied to nature like fairies or sprites or you might be drawn to communicate with your favorite animal friend. Although initially you’ll probably have more success working with the spirits of dead loved ones because you are familiar with their energy, with practice, you can communicate with any entity you desire. You can ask any entity to be near you and you can invite any entity to communicate with you.
It’s Not Complicated
- Communicating with spirit begins by grounding yourself, raising your vibration, and creating a protective space.
- You then set your intention for your communication with Spirit. (What do you want to accomplish?) This is not a strict directive of your desired outcome, but rather, what are you OPEN to experiencing?
- Once you’ve “set the stage”, you can commence communicating with Spirit.
- When you’re finished, express gratitude, and reground yourself.
Don’t make the process of communicating with Spirit more difficult than it is.
If you want to speak to your dead grandmother, communicate with her in your mind or out loud using the same language you used when she was alive. Picture what she looks like in your mind’s eye or study a photograph. Imagine how she would converse with you when she was living. Remember how she smelled and how you felt when you received a hug from her.
